Be Like Griff Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was formed in June 2022. It was created to honor the life of Daniel Lee Griffith, who was affectionately known as Griff. He was a native of Oldham County Kentucky who was tragically killed on December 14, 2021, when a box truck rear ended his vehicle on I-71 in Crestwood, Kentucky. He was only 39 years old when he died. He left behind a 14-year-old daughter Lilly and his loving mother, Laura Criswell.
Griff was a 2000 graduate of Oldham County High School. He was a U.S. Army Sergeant who honorably served our great nation for 8 years. Griff was a combat veteran who was deployed to Afghanistan for three tours of combat. He was awarded several military commendations during his military career. But his military career was cut short due to injuries he incurred during his combat deployments.
After Griff was Honorably Discharged from military service, he returned to Oldham County to serve his community and dedicate the rest of his life to help his fellow veterans and their families who are struggling. He was particularly focused on helping returning veterans suffering from PTSD and other mental health conditions that make adjusting to civilian life very difficult after deployments.
Griff’s mantra was always, “How can I help?” Be Like Griff Foundation continues to ask that exact question to further our cause. Griff would have wanted it that way.
At the time of his death, Griff was enrolled at the University of Louisville majoring in Psychology. His dreams and goals were centered around being a Certified Mental Health Professional serving his community in Oldham County.
